In the Kovalchuk’s Deal, NHL and NHLPA agreed the rules. Finally, LIya Kovalchuk joined in New Jersey Devils after his new deal contract on Saturday morning.
The agreed contract now calls for Kovalchuk to collect $100 million over 15 years, with an annual cap hit close to $6.66 million. The deal plans as Pay out $90 million in the first 10 years and $10 million over the last five.
Actually Kovalchuk originally signed a 17-year, $102 million deal but that deal was rejected by the NHL.
Devils President said that NHL approved the contract between Kovalchuk and the New Jersey Devils. It’s a very pleased decision and it remains Kovalchuk a valuable member of the devils.
The NHL and the NHL Players' Association accepted an agreement on an amendment to the rules that govern long-term contracts. Kovalchuk's deal has been approved as part of a new global settlement. Kovalchuk, Roberto Luongo, Marian Hossa, and Marc Savard have signed the deal.
